Defending Ed Equity

This past year, equity in education has been under attack by executive orders, grant freezes, court decisions, curriculum censorship, and more. Through community interviews conducted as part of ACLU-PA’s new Black Donor Network initiative, we learned that education equity is a top priority issue for many, whether administrators, educators, parents, students, or simply engaged neighbors. To answer that call, we’ve created this webinar to shed light on these recent attacks and to share practical insights about how schools and colleges might continue advancing equitable education. Our conversation will feature experts Dr. Eboni M. Zamani-Gallaher (Renée and Richard Goldman Endowed Dean of the University of Pittsburgh School of Education) and Harold Jordan (ACLU-PA Senior Education Equity Coordinator).

All-Member Webinar: Freedom of Speech on College Campus

Join us for our all-member webinar on Thursday, October 23, at 12 p.m. for a conversation with ACLU-PA as we take a look at our work around freedom of speech on college campuses. We will have an insightful discussion on the challenges and opportunities surrounding First Amendment rights on college campuses, as they explore our recent case, SJP v. University of Pittsburgh, which highlights these issues in action. In this case, the ACLU of Pennsylvania argues that both the non-disruptive library protest and the open advocacy letter are free speech protected by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
