What Happens After “You Have the Right to an Attorney”? This 3-part virtual lunchtime series will explore how Pennsylvania’s public defense system works, what effective and ethical representation requires, and how modern public defense models are changing the way lawyers represent clients. The programs are open to legislators, legislative staff, attorneys, advocates, students, community members, and the general public.
Free CLE credit will be available for attorneys.
What actually happens when someone needs a lawyer but cannot afford one?
The first installment of the 3-part “lunch and learn” series will explore how Pennsylvania’s public defense services are delivered. Through a shared hypothetical, participants will see both the common responsibilities of defense counsel and the ways those responsibilities are carried out differently depending on the county and delivery model.
