ACLU-PA and the Education Law Center-PA sent a letter of guidance to Pennsylvania school districts and charter schools in response to a U.S. Department of Education threat to cut federal funding to schools that implement policies that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania and the Education Law Center have shared a letter of legal guidance about interacting with ICE with Pennsylvania public school district superintendents and charter school CEOs. 

The ACLU of Pennsylvania has joined FIRE in raising concerns over free speech issues at Pennsylvania State University. Today, the organizations sent a letter to the president of the university raising legal concerns over Penn State’s restrictions of political activity by students on campus.

PHILADELPHIA – The American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania has settled a lawsuit against the Central Bucks School District over the district’s wrongful suspension of teacher Andrew Burgess in May of 2022.

PHILADELPHIA - In a new filing in federal court, the American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania has accused the Central Bucks School District administration and their specially retained lawyers of misleading the public and even lying about facts in a report released last spring.

PHILADELPHIA - A middle school teacher filed a federal civil rights lawsuit today against the Central Bucks School District, after district administrators began retaliating against him last year for advocating for a transgender student who was being harassed and bullied. 

The ACLU of Pennsylvania filed a complaint today with the United States Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of Education on behalf of seven students in Central Bucks School District who allege a widespread culture of discrimination against TLGBQIA+ students, particularly trans students.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Mahanoy Area School District v B.L. today in a decision that reaffirmed the importance of free speech rights of young people and students across the country.
