PHILADELPHIA – The American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania has settled a lawsuit against the Central Bucks School District over the district’s wrongful suspension of teacher Andrew Burgess in May of 2022.

The ACLU of Pennsylvania filed a complaint today with the United States Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of Education on behalf of seven students in Central Bucks School District who allege a widespread culture of discrimination against TLGBQIA+ students, particularly trans students.

Today, the Senate Education Committee passed legislation to bar transgender girls and women from participating in scholastic sports based on their gender identity.

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives passed legislation to bar transgender girls and women from participating in sports based on their gender identity. The American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania is among the many opponents of these bills.
