Chester County, PA — This morning, a clerical error affected poll books for voters registered without a party affiliation in Chester County. Election workers are moving quickly to resolve the issue.

Registered voters who do not appear in poll books can and should vote using a provisional ballot. Provisional ballots are a safe, secure and reliable method of voting that has been used successfully in elections across Pennsylvania for decades. They ensure every eligible voter can make their voice heard on Election Day while the county board of elections confirms voter eligibility. We advise voters to ignore misleading information online and instead turn to trusted sources. For instructions on voting by provisional ballot, voters should visit the pa.gov website.

Chester County voters should maintain confidence in our election system. Pennsylvania's provisional ballot system is designed specifically for situations like this to protect every voter's right to participate in our democracy.

Affected voters with questions about their voting rights can call the election protection hotline at 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683) to speak with someone at the ACLU of PA. The ACLU of PA, along with dedicated partners, will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates across social media.
