This legislation would expand the commonwealth’s DNA collection law to include the collection of DNA samples from people who have not been convicted of a crime and without a court order. On January 26, 2016, the House Judiciary Committee amended the legislation to remove the provision that requires preconviction DNA collection and to expand current law on postconviction DNA collection to include all first-degree misdemeanors and some second-degree misdemeanors.
