Senate Bill 3 would criminalize abortion at 20 weeks gestation, replacing the current ban at 24 weeks. It would also make it a crime for a doctor to perform a D&E procedure (a safe, medically-tested, and most commonly used second trimester procedure) at any point during a pregnancy. The bill includes no exceptions for rape, incest, or fetal abnormalities. If passed, it would be the most restrictive abortion ban in the country.
