ACLU-PA Bill Page SB 1179

Session: 2021-2022

ACLU-PA Position: Supports

The Domestic and Sexual Violence Victim Address Confidentiality Act provides address confidentiality to those leaving an abusive relationship by providing a legal, substitute mailing address to use whenever a residential, work, or school address is required. All first class, certified, and registered mail is received at this alternate location and then forwarded to the participant’s actual address free of charge.

Currently, the program requires that all requests be made in writing. SB 1179 would allow applications and supporting documents to be filed electronically.

Governor Wolf signed SB 1179 into law on July 8, 2022 as Act 50 of 2022.
