ACLU-PA Bill Page HB 246

Session: 2021-2022

ACLU-PA Position: Supports

HB 246 would amend Title 18 to apply the protections contained within Pennsylvania’s Rape Shield Law to victims of human trafficking, specifically prohibiting the introduction of evidence relating to the victim’s past sexual victimization or prior allegations of victimization at criminal trials. This would create uniformity regarding what evidence defense may use at trial in sex offense and human trafficking cases.

Governor Wolf signed HB 246 into law on June 30, 2021 as Act 32 of 2021.
