HB 507 (PN 2289) would require health care providers, when involved in professional instruction or clinical training, to obtain specific informed consent (both verbal and written), before performing a pelvic, rectal, or prostate examination while the patent is anesthetized or unconscious in a facility that provides health care services.

Exceptions apply if the exam is within the scope of care ordered for the patient or in cases of an emergency.

Governor Shapiro signed HB 507 into law on November 21, 2023 as Act 31 of 2023.
