A hearing on HB 1520 was held before the Senate Labor and Industry Committee on August 30, 2016. A hearing on SB 974 was held before the Senate State Government Committee on June 7, 2016. These companion bills would add gender identity and expression and sexual orientation to Pennsylvania's Human Relations Act, which currently protects people from discrimination based on race, color, religion, ancestry, age, sex, national origin, disability.
