HB 1601 | Providing drivers licenses and work permits prior to reentry

ACLU-PA Position: Supports

HB 1601 (PN 2811) would require the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections to work in concert with the Department of Transportation and Department of Human Services to help people transitioning out of prison obtain a driver’s license, Pennsylvania state ID, and/or work permit. This will assist people with their reentry process and help them take necessary steps to obtain employment, housing, and education.
