URGE SENATE EDUCATION COMMITTEE TO ADOPT SENATE RESOLUTION 70

On April 23, 2005, State Senator Connie Williams (Montgomery & Delaware Counties) introduced Senate Resolution 70. That resolution calls on the Pennsylvania Senate to reaffirm Pennsylvania's commitment to the teaching of the theory of evolution in public schools. The resolution provides us with a wonderful vehicle for expressing our strong support for the teaching of evolution.

The resolution has been assigned to the Education Committee. Now is the time for you to contact all of the members of the "PA Senate Education Committee" to ask them to support Senate Resolution 70.  We have a chance to demonstrate to these senators that Pennsylvanians want their children to learn good science and be prepared for jobs in the 21st century.  (See below for a list of committee members and their addresses.)

With battles over the teaching of evolution heating up all over the country, contacting these senators about Senate Resolution 70 is a constructive way for you to educate our elected officials about the importance of teaching evolution and for you to show your support for the folks who are working so hard to make sure that real science is taught in our public schools.  (Please note that Senator Connie Williams is a member of the "PA Senate Education Committee".  Please make sure you thank her for her leadership on this issue!)

This issue is particularly important right here in Pennsylvania.  The ACLU of Pennsylvania represents a group of concerned parents who are challenging the Dover Area School District's attempt to introduce the teaching of intelligent design in public school science classes
