- The Honorable Bob Barr represented the 7th District of Georgia in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1995 to 2003, serving as a senior member of the Judiciary Committee. Prior to his election to Congress, Barr served as U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Georgia and as president of Southeastern Legal Foundation. He is a contributing editor for The American Spectator, serves as a current contributor for CNN, hosts a weekly radio show, and writes regularly for UPI. He is currently serving as the chairman of Patriots to Restore Checks and Balances.
- Alissa Torres is the widow of Luis Eduardo Torres. Luis died on September 11, 2001, age 31, on his second day of work at Cantor Fitzgerald, at the World Trade Center, North Tower. He was from Cali, Colombia. Alissa Torres was seven months pregnant at the time of her husband’s death. Alissa is a member of September Eleventh Families for Peaceful Tomorrows, an organization founded by family members of those killed on September 11th who have united to turn their grief into action for peace. Through her work with Peaceful Tomorrows, Alissa hopes to find justice for her husband and all of the victims of the 9/11 attacks. Alissa lives with her son in New York City.
- David Keene is chairman of the American Conservative Union, the nation’s largest grassroots conservative organization. He has been a First Amendment fellow at Vanderbilt University’s Freedom Forum; national political director for George Bush’s 1980 presidential race; senior advisor to former Senator Bob Dole; and southern regional political director for Ronald Reagan’s 1976 presidential campaign. Keene has written for Human Events, National Review, Washington Times, and Boston Globe and is a regular columnist for The Hill, a newspaper covering Congress.

Patrice McDermott is the Deputy Director of the Office of Government Relations at the American Library Association Washington Office. She joined ALA in December 2001, after having served for 8 years as the senior information policy analyst for OMB Watch. At ALA, Patrice has lead responsibility for government information and privacy policy, and e-government policy issues. She is one of ALA’s primary lobbyists on the USA PATRIOT Act and issues of privacy in government information. Patrice was awarded her doctorate from the University of Arizona in political science and received an M.Ln. in library and information management from Emory University. She served as the Assistant Director of the Office for Intellectual Freedom of the American Library Association from 1986-88, taught information politics at Clark Atlanta University from 1988-90, and, from 1990-1993, worked at the National Archives and Records Administration.
- Gregory T. Nojeim is the Acting Director of the ACLU Washington Legislative Office. He was previously the Associate Director and Chief Legislative Counsel of that office, and has been instrumental in developing responses to the anti-terrorism legislation and initiatives of the administration that have threatened civil liberties since the September 11 attacks. He is a key member of the ACLU’s Safe and Free team, and frequently testifies before congressional committees and the various commissions Congress establishes.
