Orientation is mandatory for volunteers who wish to participate in the ACLU's Outreach Team. For more information on this volunteer opportunity, please read below. ### call for volunteers: join the outreach team!The Eastern Region of the ACLU of PA's Volunteer Outreach Team is a critical support to our public education and community organizing activities. Team members will be trained in many of the ACLU's of PA's key civil liberties issues, will get to know the staff and the workings of the ACLU of PA, and learn how the ACLU organizes public education campaigns in the Philadelphia area. Volunteers are asked to commit approximately 5 hours of volunteer time per month. Some availability on nights and weekends is a MUST. What might you DO? - Tabling and outreach at ACLU events
- Researching community outreach opportunities
- Speaking on ACLU issues
- Phone-banking for legislative actions and event turn-out
- Writing (op-eds, blog postings, letters to the editor)
What can you GAIN? - Greater knowledge of the organizing and advocacy community in and around Philadelphia
- Exposure to a variety of civil liberties events and education efforts
- Opportunities to work closely with ACLU staff and chapter leadership, and
- The chance to connect with a like-minded core group of volunteers who serve as the primary outward "face" of the organization at many ACLU and community events.
