Communications Intern - Philadelphia Office

The ACLU of Pennsylvania is seeking a communications intern for its Old City Philadelphia office. This internship is unpaid, with the opportunity to earn school credit, if applicable. The office is close to public transportation, including regional rail, subway, and bus lines.

Duties may include:

  • Assisting in social media
  • Updating media contact lists
  • Researching relevant blogs
  • Writing press releases
  • Writing pieces for newsletter, blog and Web site
  • Working on special projects (i.e. brochures, Web site redesign, etc.)
  • Creating reports on ACLU of Pennsylvania media hits
  • Assisting staff with creation of short videos (prior experience not required)

Time Commitment:

Fifteen hours per week (some hours may be worked remotely). A commitment of at least two months is requested, although the specific length and terms of the internship will be negotiated when an offer is made. Start date is flexible.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate or graduate student
  • Excellent research, writing and communications skills
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with the Internet, especially social networking sites
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team
  • A strong interest in civil liberties
  • Spanish language skills a plus but not required
