The ACLU offers a variety of unpaid internships. In addition to gaining valuable hands-on experience working in a nonprofit advocacy office, you will have the benefit of knowing you've helped in the fight to defend civil liberties. Many colleges and universities offer credit for our internships. Additionally, the ACLU staff is happy to write recommendations and otherwise support its interns whenever appropriate.
Please note that the type of internships and the application deadlines vary from office to office.
