The Database Development Associate will assist the ACLU of PA's Community Organizing department by designing an expanded Microsoft Access database of our allies across Pennsylvania. The ally database is critical to the organization's ability to effectively pull together coalitions, target specific audiences for our issues, and expand our visibility and impact statewide. Working approximately 5 hours per week, the intern will be asked to:

• Review current ally database and make recommendations for changes, working with the Community Organizer to incorporate staff requirements.
• Overhaul current database, implementing a new and more user-friendly database design.
• Train Philadelphia office staff in the use of the database.

The position will require an intern with:
• Proven ability to design effective and user-friendly databases using Microsoft Access. (Training cannot be provided.)
• Attentiveness to detail.
• Patience and the ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively.

The intern filling this position will have the opportunity to contribute directly to the growth and responsiveness of the ACLU's Community Organizing department. The intern will also have the opportunity to work directly with the Eastern PA Community Organizer, learn from other staff and volunteers, and increase his/her awareness of organizations working for social justice and civil liberties in PA. Although we cannot provide compensation at this time, we are happy to provide references.
