Pepper Hamilton LLP

Eric J. Rothschild is a partner with Pepper Hamilton LLP, resident in the Philadelphia office. He concentrates his practice in insurance and reinsurance, insurance insolvency and complex commercial litigation. Mr. Rothschild has litigated many other commercial disputes, including fraud, breach of contract, commercial lending and securities cases. He previously practiced in Pepper’s Health Effects Litigation Practice Group, where he participated in trial and appellate proceedings in the Three Mile Island litigation, contributing to the successful challenges to plaintiffs’ experts, which led to summary judgment and, ultimately, dismissal.

Stephen G. Harvey is a partner in the Litigation Department of Pepper Hamilton LLP and a member of the Commercial Litigation Practice Group. He concentrates his practice in complex commercial disputes and consumer class actions, including banking and financial services litigation, creditors’ rights litigation, insurance, and non-compete and trade secrets litigation. Mr. Harvey is a member of Pepper’s pro bono committee and has an active pro bono practice in the areas of constitutional law and civil rights. He also is active in the Philadelphia community, serving on the board of the Homeless Advocacy Project in Philadelphia and coordinating a legal clinic for the homeless that Pepper Hamilton sponsors.

ACLU of Pennsylvania

Witold "Vic" Walczak is the Legal Director for the ACLU of Pennsylvania. He graduated with a BA degree from Colgate University in 1983, where he majored in philosophy. Vic graduated cum laude from Boston College Law School in 1986. Prior to joining the ACLU, Vic worked with the Prisoner Assistance Project of the Legal Aid Bureau in Baltimore, Maryland, where he litigated civil rights and civil liberties claims on behalf of state prisoners. In 1991 Vic joined the Greater Pittsburgh Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union as Associate Director. The following year he was named Executive Director, a position he held for ten years. In addition to administrative and fund-raising duties, Vic directed the chapter's litigation. Starting in November 2002, Vic became the chapter's first-ever legal director, allowing him to devote full attention to the legal program. In February 2004, the ACLU of Pennsylvania named Vic Litigation Director for the entire state. He now supervises two staff attorneys and oversees the ACLU's litigation throughout Pennsylvania.

Americans United for Separation of Church and State

Richard B. Katskee is the Assistant Legal Director at Americans United for Separation of Church and State, where he litigates constitutional challenges brought under the Establishment, Free Exercise, and Free Speech Clauses of the First Amendment - including challenges to religious displays on public property, government funding of faith-based organizations, school-voucher programs, and programs to implement the teaching of creationism in public-school science classes.
