Voter ID Lawsuit

In May 2012 the ACLU of Pennsylvania, the Advancement Project, the Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia (PILCOP), and the Washington, DC law firm of Arnold & Porter LLP filed a lawsuit in the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania to overturn the voter ID law. The law was temporarily blocked from enforcement for the November 2012, May 2013 primary, and November 2013 elections. In January 2014, our request for a permanent injunction was upheld, permanently blocking the enforcement of the commonwealth's voter ID law. That decision can be appealed.
