The ACLU of Pennsylvania is made up of two organizational entities: the ACLU and the American Civil Liberties Foundation. The Foundation is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit corporation. Foundation gifts fund our litigation and public education efforts. The ACLU (often referred to as "the Union") is a 501(c) (4) nonprofit corporation and supports our legislative efforts. Each entity has its own set of by-laws. The by-laws for each entity were recently changed.
