Voices of Hope Agents of Change Tour

Harold Wilson: The Reverend Walter Everett: Juan Melendez: Ray Krone: Lorry Post:

(Left to right: Harold Wilson, exonerated 2005, Philadelphia; Rev. Walter Everett, board of directors, Murder Victims' Families for Human Rights, Juan Melendez, exonerated 2002, Florida; Ray Krone, exonerated 2002, Arizona; Lorry Post, Executive Director, Murder Victims' Families for Reconciliation)

The death penalty is crumbling. In 2007, New Jersey abolished capital punishment by legislation, and New York abolished it by court order. The United States Supreme Court recently halted executions to hear arguments on whether the three drugs used for lethal injection constitute cruel and unusual punishment.

And here in Pennsylvania, a team of prosecutors, defense attorneys, and a judge determined that Pennsylvania's system of capital punishment is significantly flawed and risks executing an innocent person.

Beginning in March, death row exonerees and murder victims' family members will tour Pennsylvania with a clarion call for change- the Commonwealth must address problems with the death penalty and determine if it is an effective public policy.
